-In Nature-

Range

Different members of the Ceratophrys genus are spread out across Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Bolivia.

Life Span

Pacman Frogs may live 5 or so years in their natural habitats.

Diet

In their natural habitat, these frogs dine on insects, small mammals, and smaller frogs.

-In Captivity-

Life Span

In captivity, these frogs are known to live 6 to 10 years.

Diet

Captive Pacmans may be fed crickets, mealworms, and waxworms. Pinkie mice and minnows may be fed sparingly from time to time.

Housing

A 10 gallon terrarium may house one adult. The water dish should be shallow to prevent drowning. The substrate should be coconut fiber or a like mixture, and deep enough for burrowing. Plants, moss, and hides should be made available for security.

Feeding

Juveniles should be fed daily, and adults should be fed every other day. Prey items should be calcium dusted weekly.

Temperature

82°F days, 78°F nights

Humidity

at or above 50%%

Heating & Lighting

A heat mat is preffered for these species, as they prefer darkness. Red or blue reptile bulbs may be used for viewing, as frogs cannot sense these lights.

Handling

Pacman frogs have 3 sharp bone "teeth", called odontoid structures, protruding from their lower jaw. They will use these structures to bite in defense when threatened. They should only be lifted by grasping behind the front limbs.

Compatibility

Adults should be housed individually.
